Tabletop Solution Selection Aid
Tablet Solution selection guide for choosing the right tablet stand or holder
Tablet Solution has written this selection guide based on its experiences.
With this, we help you make the right choice for a secure tablet stand or holder. Of course, you can also ask us for help via email or phone!
Try to answer the questions below for yourself:
Which brand and version of tablet do you want to use?
The most commonly used brands, iPad and Samsung Galaxy TAB 10.1, have released many versions. Unfortunately, often with different sizes. See a useful overview of the sizes here.
There are some universal enclosures that, for example, fit all iPad versions. However, there are also enclosures that only fit one version. So check carefully which brand/type you have.
Which configuration are you looking for?
Broadly speaking, we can divide our assortment into tablet (wall) holders, table stands, and floor stands. In addition, there are also tablet locks. Determine for yourself which configuration you need. Some brands are modularly built and can later be used in other configurations. Tablet Solution also has tablet solutions for pole mounting and with heavy-duty suction cups.
Which closure is convenient for your use?
Tablet holders are secured in different ways to protect your tablet. If you want to regularly remove the tablet from the holder, a cylinder lock with a key is much more convenient. If this is not necessary, then closure with Allen screws is sufficient. With some holders, these are extra difficult for unauthorized persons to open due to the use of Secure Torx screws.
Should the tablet solution be rotatable?
Ask yourself if that is really necessary in use. We distinguish rotatable from portrait to landscape of the holder (+/- 90 degrees). This can be useful for changing applications, mainly on the iPad. It can also be irritating if one constantly rotates when it is not necessary.
In addition, rotation around the axis is also possible with table stands (also called swivel, 360-degree rotation). This can be useful if there are multiple viewers who are not standing or sitting next to each other. For example, in a POS solution or at a reading table.
Finally, some brands are equipped with a tilt mechanism. Useful for adjusting the viewing angle. This table stand even has all rotation options in one!
Should the Home Button be covered or usable?
Not only iPad, but also other brands work with a physical home button. A button that allows the user to exit your App or presentation. Depending on your use, this may not be desirable. Some brands therefore supply a Home button cover or have a special holder for this. Incidentally, the use of the Home Button can also be blocked software-wise.
Other mounting requirements?
See how you can power the tablet solution. Most holders allow for the routing of a power cable. Not all holders are equally spacious and can sometimes cause problems with overly thick plugs. Sometimes a longer power cable is needed.
Table stands often come in 2 versions; loose stands and fixed to the table. The latter can be screwed to the table or counter. This also depends on your use.
