IP-X3 stands for splash-proof, meaning no water should penetrate if the case is sprayed with 10 liters per minute at an angle of 60 to minus 60 degrees. IP-X3 is functional but offers the least protection against water.

IP-X4 stands for splash-proof and is equal to IP-X3 in terms of water quantity but does not allow water to leak through at any angle. So, regardless of the angle at which the cover receives water.

IP-X5 is the next level and protects against an additional 2.5 liters of water per minute, totaling protection against spraying of 12.5 liters per minute. IP-X5 is also known as jet-proof. With this specification, there should be no leakage whatsoever, regardless of the angle from which it is sprayed.

IP-X3 is the best spraying specification. IP-X3 protection must be able to withstand 100 liters of water per minute without it entering the protection. 100% waterproofness, such as submersion, is still a step further. That is at least IP-X7 or even better, the IP-X8 standard.

IP-X7 is one of two levels where you can actually submerge the tablet underwater without allowing water to reach the tablet. IP-X7 can withstand these conditions provided the protection is submerged no more than 1 meter and for a maximum of 30 minutes.

IP-X8 is the only true 100% waterproof standard. How long or how deep the protection is submerged does not matter with this standard. Although the protection can remain underwater for an extended period, limitations of the protected device may cause the device to be submerged for a shorter time. Therefore, always check the specifications of your tablet before submerging it in a waterproof protective cover.

Drop-proof iPad Air & iPad Air 2 cases

Drop-proof iPad Air & Air 2 cases, just like waterproofness, have varying degrees of protection. The protection factor differs depending on the type and design of the case.
